WHY I TRAVEL
Welcome! I first created this travel site in the Spring of 2017 while studying in Milan, Italy. During my time abroad, I got the chance to visit a number of incredible places and I gained an appreciation for different cultures. I fell in love with Italy, it’s food, and it’s people and became almost fluent in the language. When I made the decision to study abroad, a persistent shoulder injury had forced me to give up my college basketball career. After having my biggest passion taken away, traveling helped me fill a void. [original blog]
My name is Tony Karalekas, I am 26 years old, and I am originally from Naples, Florida. In 2018, I graduated from Colby College in Waterville, Maine where I completed an Economics/Financial Markets major and a Computer Science minor. Outside of the classroom, I was a member of the men’s basketball team, the campus DJ, and a partner of Mayflower Hill Captial, a student-run, investment fund. My hobbies include golfing, hiking, skiing, photography, cooking and music.
After graduation, I moved to San Francisco, California to work in Sales and Trading for Citigroup. After 3 years at Citi, I recently started a new job as an Account Executive for a fintech company called Carta. Living in California gives me easy access to some of the country's prettiest places and I look forward to sharing more of my adventures here.
MUSIC
In high school, I played acoustic guitar and created an album of originals for a senior project.
In college, I was a campus DJ and had a residency at a local bar downtown.
My love for music continues. I spend a lot of time crafting playlists. Check it out

SPORTS
As long as I can remember, sport have been a part of my life. Basketball, in particular, was my favorite, playing all the way up to the college level.
Today, I still play basketball and I am also really into golf.
