A quick weekend trip along the Northern California coastline to explore the magnificent Redwoods National and State Parks. Within two hours of an early Saturday morning departure from Berkeley, we were surrounded by the breathtaking ancient giants that shroud the northern coast of California. The first stop was Burlington Campground along the Avenue of the Giants in Myers Flat, California. After a quick bite for lunch at Lighthouse Grill in Trinidad, we were set to explore Humboldt-Redwoods and Prairie Creek Redwoods Parks. The agenda for the day was to make our way along the coast to Klamath stopping for hikes and sightseeing along the way. Some highlights from the day were Trillium Falls, Fern Canyon, Big Tree Loop, and the Klamath Overlook. On the drive back down to the campground, we stopped in Arcata, California for a nice dinner at SALT Fish House. On Sunday, we spent the day enjoying the beautiful weather and relaxed along the banks of the Eel River close to our campground on the Dyerville Bar. There was a marathon on the Avenue of Giants today, so the bar had become a makeshift parking lot/tailgate allowing us to pull the Jeep right up to the banks of the river and soak up the sun. Finally, on the drive back to the Bay Area we stopped at the Chandelier Drive-Thru Tree to take the Jeep through a Redwood.
